Am i being too impatient???
Ok, I'm finding this, trying to find a job through agencies thing very frustrating!
Can someone please tell me what are the normal time frames for people getting back to you through agencies.
I'm presuming that in the middle east everything takes longer than usual.
What are peoples experiences of finding work from the uk recently.
How long did it take from the start of looking?
I know, another tediously boring question but i'm fed up
Thanks alot to anyone who can answer my boring boring send you to sleep question

If you aren't in Dubai, or giving them a date for coming to Dubai, they probably never will get back to you. They have plenty of people looking for jobs who are already in the country so they tend not to bother much with the thousands (and I do mean thousands) of CVs they get in their inboxes every week from people outside the country. You have to show your commitment to working here by actually turning up on the doorstep. Sorry if that isn't very helpful but your best bet is to come out on holiday for a couple of weeks and try and arrange some interviews during that time.

I'd just like to get some feedback from the agencies, as we do plan on coming if we get some interest.
We don't really want to waste money on a trip too soon, if you know what i mean.
Not really sure when will be the best time. Maybe i'll contact the agencies again and tell them we'll be coming over and see what response i get

Depends, I called an agency, told them I fancied coming out here and was called about a position within 48 hours. Was interviewed 3 weeks later, offered the job there and then.......and hen the process slowed down! Took 5 months to get out here after that!

No i'm just trying to get as much info as i can whilst waiting waiting waiting!!!!!
You see, what happens is, you see jobs advertised and you believe that you can apply for these jobs, as they are advertised in the uk but it seems not hey
Suppose i'd better start looking at a trip

Obviously if you're highly in demand it makes a difference.
Did you contact a dubai based agency or uk?

My husband is a director for a service provider (building services).
Which covers facilities management. Apparently (so they say) they are in need of people like this over there what with a lot of buildings coming to completion.

Try going directly to the hospitals - there is a turnround of staff in FM and hospitals by definition employ the best. Because they have the best facilities. Need Arabic to work for the palaces.

I was formerly a Service Manager and Aftersales Manager in the motor trade, so getting a job as a Service advisor for BMW was pretty easy for me. 11 years with them in the UK helped! I contacted an agency in the UK who specialise in Motor trade recruitment and deal with the ME as well.

I think it depends on what job you do and your experience. In the architectural press (magazines / internet) there are many adverts for jobs for Architects with experience. Having talked to a few agencies it is not the case that all companies have many CV's sent to them - in fact companies are advertizing all round the world for staff as there is a big shortage. You don't build on a scale and with such speed a city like Dubai without a good amount of professional staff, in all fields!

Re: Am i being too impatient???
I have been hunting for work in Dubai for about 5 months now. I have had a few phone interviews and one face to face interview. As with you Peggypie, I struggle to get replies from a lot of the agencies.
I am seriously considering taking a weeks holiday and fly to Dubai and spend the entire week job hunting and if that doesn't work,I will look at quiting my job in the UK and taking a massive chance of finding work in Dubai, but the big issue with that is, I have a wife and daughter to make sure I have a roof over their heads and food on the table.
As with Peggypie, any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
