Default Almost no TV so can you recommend some great websites to us?

Greetings:

My wife and I are going on a three month vacation in less than two months. My employer has cut off our Orbit/Showtime subscription for probably this reason. We will probably get it back after the summer vacation in September. In the mean time, we don’t have any TV except CNN. However, we do have (when it works) relatively high speed Internet therefore can anyone recommend some great websites that have kept them sane or at least relatively happy during their stay in the Middle East, especially Saudi Arabia? Websites concerning news, movie downloads, documentaries, comedies, dramas and so on would be greatly appreciated. My wife and I especially would like to watch some British programming like BBC World International if possible but please feel free to make any recommendations you wish because my wife and I love to watch everything. Finally, we like to download programs or films so we can watch later because our Internet connection is at time unreliable. That’s it for now and we look forward to reading your responses.

Get your Fix of British TV here

BBC1, BBC2, ITV Channel 4, etc its all there, bit pricey though. I'd give the free trial ago first. Hope that helps

Just download and watch when it's convenient for you. Plenty of really good sites out there that will provide the torrents for UK TV. No streaming issues either.

Previously I paid a monthly fee for a VPN and manually downloaded stuff from BBC iplayer or Channel 4's 4OD - does the kind of subscription site offered above offer much more than that? It's a lot more expensive so I would expect to be able to plug in their box straight into my tv and have a lot less fannying around.

About to go back into Shite TVland (Bahrain this time) so looking for a solution before I blindly settle for Showtime and it's "Fresh Prince of Bel Air" 1987 repeats. What does eveyone else do? Having two very small children the "get a life" option isn't currently available to me until at least 2015.....

I don't use a VPN for downloading. Just etishite broadband and leave it running 24/7. Downloaded all sorts of stuff from the latest Doctor Who, Ashes to Ashes, Fringe, Flash Forward, Stargate Universe...you name it. Can also get sports same day as aired on TV...best of all...it's all free!
