Default All Alone in Doha

So I'm stuck here for the weekend. The residence visa is still being worked on, and I can't leave until it goes in my passport.

What do I do with myself?

Smutty and sensible suggestions are all welcome.

Alone? It's nearly as bad as eating alone in a restaurant.

Malteser hasn't been on here for yonks.

Worst thing is, they put me in the new Movenpick place, and, as the concierge took great delight in informing me, it is dry.

I've been before. It's not the worst place to be, you know. I went to Aussie Legends last night after having a pleasant meal at the Italian in Rydges.

So where can you recommend for a Thursday night, LL?

The "Pearl Lounge" I believe it is at the Ramada.
Or you could try the Cigar Lounge at the Ritz, they play some good jazz.

The Pearl Lounge is at the Marriott, actually, and I hated it when I went last time. Probably because I was made to feel less welcome than something very unwelcome, and was told there were no tables free, even though the joint was empty.

The cigar lounge sounds interesting. Or should that be NICE?

Have never been to the Pearl Lounge myself, and you are probably right about NICE.

There is also the Admiral's Club, have been there once, not too bad at the time I was there.

As I said before, for in depth info on places to go over here, Qatar Living seems to be the resource.

try the Ramada - DH thinks there is a pub in there. Might be worth ringing them ?

They have a Champagne/Caviar/Cigar bar thingy at the Ramada, also a couple of other places that 'should' be open in the new building (but this is the ME so god knows if its actually finished or not)

The Ramada has a pub/club on the 1st floor (I think) called Sheharazad, grotty and frequented by undesirable types after a certain time. Ramada also has The Library on the top floor which is quite nice.

Ramada also has Qube, nightclub which Ive heard is actually not bad. The Pearl is at the Marriot.

Unfortunately Im gonna say what everyone says, get a copy of Marhaba! for numbers/times etc.

The sheraton has a nice bar called the 'Watering Hole'? I think, with an Asia d'Cuba restaurant at the side of it....atrocious Philipino band, which is worth a laugh especially when they do an evanescance number.

Hope that helps, welcome to Doha, you poor devil!
