Default Al Yasmina School - aldar acadamies - worth it or not ?

Hey all - wanted to open up the floor to see what peoples views are on Aldar opening a number of schools in the area.

They opened Pearl which I understand has been very succesful. The next one is due in September (AL Yasmina) - this will follow the Brit Curriculum from Y1 thru to A-Levels.

The costs are ard 34K pa, whats ppls thoughts on Al Yasmina, you guys are closer to the ground there so have you heard good or bad things.

thanks

Check out the Gulf News archive - there is a big article about the increases in school fees. I think we need to consider our kids education as an investment as part of their future rather than an expense although it's sometimes a challenge............

ok for bsak in the last 3 years they have gone up i think 46%, which is not allowed by law, the law states that they can go up by 5% every 2 years or 20% every 3 years, 'unless' the school gets permission from the moe which they did obviously get, unlike some schools in dubai which just try and increase, in order to get an approval, the school needs to show 'reasons' etc such as increased facilities, bsak is a little different in the fact that its a 'not for profit school', so any increases will go back into the school etc, and obviously the major headache they have is the exchange rate, rents etc just like everyone else. What the 'profit' schools will do in the future who knows?
