advice on working and living in Dubai / Abu Dhabi
I am currently looking to visit to the UAE in March to seek employment but am a little unsure on where to start when I arrive. Please can anyone give advice on the best route to take, whether it's through agencies or directly through companies. How is the current job markets in these areas baring in mind the current financial difficulties around the world. Also can anyone give advice on areas to stay in either Dubai or Abu Dhabi where there is a an ex pat community as I am sure this will help when it comes to intergrating and advice. I will be looking to visit on a 60 day visa initially with the possibility of extending the visa by an extra 30 days. I understand most rentals are annually with the rental money upfront but are there possibilities for short term rental?
It would be nice to buddy up with someone who has already experienced the questions and concerns I have

the visit visas are for 30 days at the moment, for starters...
Apart from that, where to start? Doing a search for [the many] similar threads would be helpful. Telling us what industry you're in would be another.
Lastly, coming over to seek work (finding is not guaranteed) is an expensive business. To rent a serviced apartment will cost around £2-3k per month, then add another £400-500 for shopping and boring stuff... then more for fun stuff.
That's a heck of an outlay to come here having done not very much homework!

I agree with Kitty what line of work are you in? if it's construction forget it

I am regional/district/area manager with the retail business, not sure what the job market is like within this sector

do a search on Al Shaya group, they are huge retail, Debenhams etc, I wouldn't come out on a whim, thousands have lost their jobs here and you don't have ME experience.
