Hi there,

I'm getting ready for a move from London to Abu Dhabi and wanted to get feedback on the shipping companies below. I've seen a lot of mixed reviews but haven't been able to find much consensus anywhere.
Have a couple notes on my experience with them so far.

1. Pickfords - have offered a free survey but no initial quote yet
2. Crown - offered a free survey but no initial quote yet. The coordinator on the phone asked the most detailed questions and provided the most information on the spot.
3. ReloUK - don't do surveys in-home and sent the 2nd lowest estimate of about 900 GBP
4. iMove - don't do surveys in-home and sent the lowest estimate of 1kGBP
5. Sterling - They provided me with an initial quote of 3900GBP door to door for a 20ft container.
6. Teams Relocation - can't find much information on them but have a friend who recommended them. Anyone have any experience with them?

Would love to hear about your experiences with the above. I have a considerable allowance to work with from my company but want to make the right decision regarding quality and cost.

If you've had an estimate for a 20ft container I would personally not have confidence in committing to a company who won't do an in home survey. There is far more than volume to assess and without getting this sort of detail you really open yourself up to risks of something going wrong or additional costs.

i think 1k is way too much nearer 2 upwards i would say but you want door to door, you want them to take charge of the paperwork at both ends its a nitemare here if you have to do yourself.

be careful make sure that you are getting quotes for same ie weight or cubic amount etc.

i would go with the well known ones crown pickfords etc. the local ones who do they use at this end?

Team Relocations uses Allied Pickford on the UAE end. ReloUK has a company called Relo Abu Dhabi that does it on the AD end. But, I think you're right that it makes sense to go with a known entity

Most of the quotes for a 20ft container from Crowne, Team Relo and Pickfords are all coming in at about 4k GBP

yeh allied pickford good, but never seen relo abu dhabi?

See which companies can offer you a free quote so you can gather estimates, and then which company will work best for you. You want one that is a member of the BAR (British association of removers.) Crown sound the best out of the list you have provided, best to inform them of everything you have, how much insurance cover you may need, if you have any goods of high value, if any need to be securely packaged.

Excellent thread very timely for us! I have to say I wont be considering any company who wont visit us for a quote - too many variables (obviously it helps when the company is footing the bill!) Will def check out Pickfords and Crown. And Kirsty's linked thread is very good too.
