Advice re re-locating and educating the teenager

I've followed this forum for months and it does seem to be a font(s) of all knowledge. So...family re-locating to Dubai in 2005, first set of questions;

Son is 16, and is presently in his first year studying for a British National Diploma in computing (electrical engineering side). I think this may be similar to old Btec and is worth 3 A levels when he passes! Are there any institutions in Dubai that he can transfer to or will he have to begin 2 years of traditional A Levels.

Will he enjoy a social life? (his main concern) and I suppose if I was 16...
If he passes his test in UK at 17 - can he drive in UAE?

We intend to rent our UK home - does it make sense to ship furniture - household goods e.g TV - kitchen goods, out to Dubai? Has anyone done this from UK and any idea of costs - container full/part load.

Thanks in advance

Maggi
