With the number of crashes and fender benders, yes a huge demand and a huge number of companies doing work. As for labour, cheap as chips, the guys doing the work probably earn in the region of 1000aed monthly, maybe a couple of grand if their very lucky and skilled. (about £150/mth)

no probs,
setting up here is a real pain in the ass. It can be done but it will take a bit of time and more paperwork than you would beleive
Yes there are dedicated areas for certain industries and different licence types, you will also need a local partner if you set up outside a free zone.

see here to start with
Dubai Govt

http://www.dubaided.gov.ae/main/gn/D...fDoingBusiness

http://www.dubaided.gov.ae/main/gn/D...fDoingBusiness

Dubai portal

Ministry of Labour
http://www.mol.gov.ae/pages-EN/docum...Guide-en.htm#e

Ministry of interior
http://www.dnrd.ae/dnrd/default.htm

Also if you want to employ anyone, then you need to sponsor their residencey, which entails deposits etc to the government, also if you are paying market rate for cheap labour then you would also have to supply housing, so bear that in mind when calculating costs.

might want to add those to the FAQ Bob/TS

For any business setup related issue, I can recommend a new program available at the Department of Economic Development web site. Click on e-services and then Issue License Estimator. The program will guide you through a couple of questions such as the business activity(ies) and nationality of the partners/owners. This information is used to determine the applicable legal type of the organization (e.g. sole establishment, LLC). At the end of the program, you should be given a fairly accurate idea of the cost associated with attaining a license and the rules associated with it.

If you need additional information on setting up a company in Dubai (excluding free zones), please feel free to PM me.
