Default Advice on Job Offer

Hi

I am after advice on my job offer to come and work in A/D. I am married but will be coming over alone with visits to/from family etc.

Offer is as follows

Risk free accomodation - 2 bed acc provided by company
All utility bills paid by company
Furnishing allowance once in permanent accomodation
Salary - 4,500 uk sterling/ month ( approx 33,00 dirhams / month)
Free car/ petrol card etc

Question also, what would be approx cost/week to feed myself ( moderate to comfortable ) ..£150/week or 1,100 dirhams is this possible.

As I would still have a family home I would be sending money back and keeping a retainer for food expenses etc, so advice on this would be great

regards

Ringo

Welcome to BE.

Work on supermarket food costs at around 20% more than the Uk.
You can shop cheaper, but if you want to enjoy similar brands and quality as in the UK, you pay the price.. But 1100dhs a week would be enough for you to forget the supermarket and eat at a decent quality restaurant 7 days a week!

You have a great package, with the main costs of car and accom taken care of. So go for it!!

Thanks for the quick replies

About to make a final decision this weekend, one way or the other.

Wife is supportive on one hand, on the other is crying alot. Boy and girl supportive to a point. All in all we will be 15-20k a year better off.

big decision is ...strain on the family relationship/ marriage etc and offsetting this against financial benefit etc.

thanks
ringo

Construction ind in UK becoming dodgy within next 18 months. Wife has good job in uk and retires in 9 years and eldest approaching college/uni etc.

Wifes parents will be dead set against it and will go ape basically, my parents will be ok.

thanks

Maybe set aside £5k a year for regular flights in school holidays for the family so they can spend as much time with you as possible.

Don't just measure it in financial terms though Ringo, better quality of life for you if its the UK you hail from-if you bring the family I mean.
