The Good Lady Wife and Me are thinking about going overland from Europe to India for our honeymoon. We've found a train that runs from Istanbul To Pakistan and, for me, it sounds perfect. But the trains travels across Iran and Pakistan. I need to reassure my partner that she is not "entering the lion's den".
Please please please..... if you have recent, first-hand experience of travelling through Iran or Pakistan can you clue us in.
Really appreciate any help,
Col

Have visited both Iran and Pakistan recently for work. Both of them are relatively civilised. Didn't really get out and about as they were both only short visits, however, in my opinion there is nothing to be concerned about.

It is a bit out of date perhaps, but I was in Iran for almost a month in 1998 on my American passport. At the time, i was required to have a driver/guide between cities but was allowed to wander the cities on my own. The fellow was useful for getting into Qom during a religious holiday.
Iran was one of the friendliest places I have been and I would love to return. No worries at all.
