Accomodation costs in Abu Dhabi?
Hello all
Can anybody advise on likely accomodation costs for a mid range two bed apartment in Abu Dhabi?
My wife and I are looking at various options to follow a long-ish stint in KSA. One is a position working on Saadiyat Island so I would need to be within commuting distance.
Thanks

It very much depends on where in AD you want to live and the age of the building.
The Tourist Club area is closest to Saddiyat island and is cheap, but the buildings are old and there is a lot of road construction on Salam Streeet. You could pick up a reasonable 2 bed there for under 150K a year easily.
There is also some newer tower blocks on Al Meena - closer to Saddiyat, but in the middle of roadworks.
Khalidya has a lot of new apartments coming online - 2 and 3 bed from160 - 220K. Your commute would be along the Conrniche and take 20 - 30 minutes, depending on traffic.
The long awaited developments on Reem Island will also offer the rental market more options when they are released - but no idea when that will be!
Other posters might have more accurate, up to date rental market figures, but rents are falling - so may even be lower than I suggest.

Plummeting, more like. Just signed up today for a really nice 3-bed, central location, all en-suites, large living room. 200k, would have been 300k a year ago. 2 beds near Corniche should be about 150k, but as Weescot says there's so much coming on line this year that rents will drop further.
The alternative is a business hotel for a couple of months. You might be able to get a deal for about 10k pcm, which will give you huge flexibility.
Good luck

I know you say you are looking for an apartment but you can get a villa for 150K easily in Al Reef which is where the road from Meena and Saadiyat joins the mainland. Dead easy commute and they are not half bad

I thought Al Reef villa's were out at the airport? where Saddiyat island joins the mainland (or Abu Dhabi island to be exact) is the port area.....round by the "Club" and carpet souk.
