Accident

Some poor guy has just fallen off a building near Dnata and all traffic had to be stopped from Dnata heading into Dubai so the air ambulance could touch down. Sheikh Zayed Road is currently all backed up heading into Dubai from Jebel Ali.

Did he fall or did he jump? After so many jumping suicides over here, nothing would surprise me. Hope it wasn't the same tower from which the falling concrete damaged forty cars the other week.

Who knows ... not a nice way to go. Ambulances, police etc acted really quickly but I would doubt he would survive such a fall.

I don't know the actual building. Just as you pass Dnata and Emirates there are some buildings and it was one of those where it happened.

My guess is Al Tayer Tower, the last of three skyscrapers on the right as you approach Dubai after Dnata. Its 55 storeys high...

I'd contest that.

Life doesn't mean a lot to the employer perhaps... to the individual it means everything... it means whatever he can send back, paying off debts at home, supporting parents on their struggling farms, putting aside something for his kids education, daughter's marriage etc... it's not something taken lightly by *anyone*

It sounds like - If your Muslim and for some unknow reason decide to jump off a building (by the way for those that are ignorant of the fact suicide is against any Islamic principle) its ok because it's a 'Muslim thing'

How very ignorant

Underpaid and overworked expatriate - could be any nationality (except of course UK/US/AUS/SA)

That life means a lot to the family they leave behind.

Over here life is cheap - I agree. Take that murder of the poor British lady - I guess the 25 yo who mowed her down will get off lightly. A couple of weeks in jail, a few thousand dirhams in blood-money and a gentle rap on his knuckles.
