Abu Dhabi restaurants - Not hotel or Mall
Hey All
Asking this question on a new thread but would like to know of any restaurants you can all recommend which are not in hotels and malls.
We went to lebanese flower the other day (which was awesome) and i prefer the vibe of a restaurant not in a hotel/mall
Any secret little places you know off?
thanks

Try Cafe Arabia for something a little different. It's got some great things to look at whilst you wait for your meal.
Another big favourite of mine is Al Faneer (I think that's how it's spelled) at Manarat Al Saadiyat. Great food and excellent decor/vibe.
There are a couple of good ones in Khalidiya too - the Saudi one is authentic so I've heard and Api Cae is interesting. I didn't particularly enjoy it when we went but it got good reviews from lots of other folk.

Agree with all the ones in Yoohoo and Fossildogs posts
Also:-
Jones the Grocer - not cheap but decent enough.
The Cafe in The One Furniture Shop, Khaladiya.
Al Saj Cafe corner of electra and 6th
Chappan Bhog great place for v. cheap mini thali - it's a vegi restaurant frequented by Indians who work at surrounding oil cos and banks - authentic and approved. It's on the road parralel to Salam St opposite India Palace as mentioned. Daytime only iirc. Also Royal Orchid closeby for Thai from the same group as India Palace.
Nihal on Electra was always good for an Indian take away
If you can get in The Club - The Vista is fine dining for not a lot of money
I now fancy a Ruby at 7am...cheers

The La Brioches are good for quiches, croques monsieurs etc. There's one at the entrance to Liwa Village, another in Khalidiyah near Choitrams Express and a couple more floating around too. Le Boulanger on the Marina Mall causeway does decent-ish Lebanese food, with great views.
Al Fanr in the Manarat al Saadiyat is a favourite, particularly in winter when you can sit outside.

There's all the places in Abu Dhabi Marina next to Abu Dhabi Mall (e.g. Bamboo). There's a fish restaurant in Al Bateen marina.

There are also the restaurants at Yas Marina. My kids don't mind going to Stars 'n Bars and the Japanese there, whilst pricey, is very nice. I believe Johnny Rockets is there too.

As well as those already mentioned, there's Circle at Gardens Plaza (Al Raha Gardens) and also Nolu's, Bricco and Ornina at Al Bandar. Cafe Firenze at Al Zeina do nice pizzas done in a proper brick oven. They also have an outlet in the city.
Also love Al Fanr, Cafe Arabia and the cafe at The One.

China Friends - near Lifeline Hospital.
India Palace has been mentioned. I'd also say Motimahal and the Korean place near Najda Street whose name escapes me.

We loved Ibrahimis on electra..go upstairs its cheap and cheerful, four of us used to.eat until we were stuffed.for no more than a 100 Dhs.
Panda Panda Chinese on Khalifa st
The place on the breakwater where the giant flag is..its inside the heritage village, only problem is, your tortured by bloody bin cats while your eating, so just give them a swift kick under the table...only joking.
