About to leave for Dubai

Re: About to leave for Dubai
Can someone please explain to me why the liquor store 'High Spirits'-owned by AD National Hotels sells liquor to anyone(except little Keralites) including people in kanduras and abayas without requiring the production of a LL?
They even qualify method of payment within the store: W.O a licence- cash only; produce a licence-we accept credit cards.
How does that happen?

If I can give one piece of advice - don't get any loans from the bank, ever - not if you want to leave at anypoint and don't have funds available to clear all outstanding at a moments notice. Travel ban.

Hmm that has made me a little nervous as I was planning on getting a loan for a car - I guess its only a problem if I lose my job and cannot make repayments and/or need to leave Dubai. Anyone else got views or experiences on bank loans please?

One bit of advice , never have anything that you can't pay back within 1 month because 1 months notice is what you'll get.

Totally agree. Best to rent a car at first to see how it goes - too many people arrive and get the what are seen as "essential UAE items" on credit and most are financed by a local bank loan or credit card. If you really want to buy a car it might be worth investigating a UK bank loan and bringing the money out with you. UK debt is better than UAE debt!
