Aaaaarrrggghh renting at the wave in muscat is so difficult!

Guys just venting some frustration regarding the parasites known as estate agents: unqualified, blood sucking individuals who have absolutely no idea
about customer service.

We Are move to muscat in about two weeks time and have been visiting the wave complex over the past few days and have our hearts set on a villa with a garden, though each time we put in an "offer" the estate agent refuses to put it forward to the the landlord because it's not the asking price!! Do they not understand the meaning of an offer and the role they play in renting and selling of a property.

If anybody has a property or knows a landlord with a property at the waves and is willing to deal with us directly please let us.

Thanks

which agents are you using?

some agents let you see property that is already rented. also, as you will soon find, many landlords are mortgaged to the absolute hilt here in Oman and they simply will not budge on the asking price until the villa has been empty for a couple of years, and then they may consider it. it takes them a while to realise that a rental lower than the mortgage payments is better than zero rental. they are also living in cloud cuckoo land of the 2008 housing boom (which is when many of them thought the ever rising rental prices would keep on rising) and then found themselves stuck without tenants in 2009. the Wave properties sold out very very quickly in 2008, and now are worth less than they sold for, the estate has had a lot of problems with teething (to be expected in all honesty), and no-one wants to buy.

so dont be too hard on your agent for not passing your offer on - if they did they may find themselves dumped by the landlord for wasting his/her time.

How much are they going for out of interest?

Had a viewing few years back whilst killing time in Muscat and must say the villas are very nice
