6 month renewable visas for property owners

Isn't it enough hassle to renew your visa every three years never mind every 6 months? you would have just got your visa back when you would have to reapply again!! they aren't doing much to encourage people to invest in Dubai are they? Property owners in my opinion should be entitled to at least an annual renewable visa.

couple of free zones are now doing visas for 20k for first year including set up, then as little as 10k per year thereafter.
Surely the easier way of staying here - with the bonus of being able to work 'freelance'.

I agree that is a good option but not one made readily available to people who are considering retiring to this country or having a holiday home that they intend using during the winter months. It is hardly encouraging people who are not able to get visit visa's easily on arrival into the Country. They are also making a stipulation that the property has to be worth 1 million and you need an income of 10,000 dhs per month.

In the article I read it said you would then have to leave for your home country or another GCC country after the 6 month visa expired until you met certain criteria - but didn't say what that was

in short, just demonstrates that this place so isn't a 'retirement destination'.

Give it another 12 months. They will be so desperate for overseas income, that there will be an attractive package created for retired overseas property buyers.

In 3 years time, Waxys will be having a 'bingo' brunch, and trilogy will be a 'come dancing' style venue..

.. and the hookers in the Ratttlesnake will be aged 65 as well

I actually know of a few people who have bought here with a view to retirement/semi retirement. It's not completely unfeasible if you ask me. If you have a property that is paid for then why not?

Problem is you are retiring to a country that can change the goal posts at any point in time, which could effectively see you either out of your (paid for) home, or paying some ridiculous charges to stay in your home/the country.

The changes in residency visas over the last couple of years are a testament to the difficulties that long term retirees could face, particularly if there is a change in sentiment/government/politics, or the direction that the wind blows.

I corrected your post. For some reason you put the word 'probably' in there.

Don't worry we all make mistakes..

I agree with you totally. However some people have invested thinking that Dubai was a stable market, they are now finding that their luxury apartments are worth half of what they were say 12 months ago and are now somewhat trapped. I do actually have friends who managed to secure a visa on their apartment in the visa, annually renewable. I am guessing that is now 6 monthly renewable. Which they won't bother as they are British so will just do visa runs. BUT how do you get DEWA without a residency visa?
