Quite a few here in the lower Westchester County area. I know of some in Sleepy Hollow and White Plains.

Might I suggest you look on Meet Up and see if there are any groups set up for Brits in Westchester County.

BTW Ossining, Croton, is not considered Upstate New York ;-) It is actually lower New York

Here is a group from www.meetup.com

Darien is not that far from you actually.

I have commonly seen "Upstate NY" used to describe everything north of NYC, specifically the northern limit of The Bronx. Certainly when I lived in Valhalla I was told by colleagues that I lived "upstate". It seemed to me that Westchester was a bit of a grey area.

This Wikipedia page says everything north of NYC (The Bronx), but concedes the boundary is disputed.

Upstate New York to me would be anything above Dutchess County or the western part of New York, i.e. the Finger Lakes, Rochester, Syracuse, Buffalo or Plattsburg.

Hey them New York City dwellers are loathe to admit that there is anything other than NYC in New York State.

Now the so-called chef on "Farm House Rules" says her farm is in upstate New York and she is in Hudson, NY just around of Columbia County north of Rhinecliff. I have friends who commute daily from Hudson, NY to White Plains everyday to work.

Exactly. Westchester is definitely not "upstate."
