Anyone planning to meet up in the near future?

I'll be about in mid-Feb onwards :)

Hey Ozzidoc, I'm in San Diego - been here for around 6 months. I don't know of any meet ups planned in the near future but always happy to meet new folk. I don't come on here all that often these days though so apologies if I take a while to reply. What area will you be living when you get to San Diego?

I've been in San Diego since 2003 - intermittently until 2009 when we became permanent residents. I've been commuting to the UK for a little work for the last couple of years.

We've been in Bay Ho for four years, Carmel Valley before that.

I already know Leah and would also be happy to meet up when you get back. Where will you be living in Feb? Permanent move?

Oh, I didn't realised Bay Ho was a place in SD. Never heard of it before. Just googled it. Just let us know when you are back and we can arrange a time to meet up.

I ran into Leah at the airport before Christmas, agreed we should have another meetup, and promptly forgot about it again. Sorry. :)

Doesn't take much - pick a date, then a location, post it here and see who turns up. What's "mid-February" - how about Saturday/Sunday February 22nd or 23rd?

Yeah, I didn't think Tiger!Tiger! was very popular with the group although usually they don't have children's birthday parties on the back patio. :D

Ideas? I'm thinking somewhere where you can have a drink or two but don't have to, can get food of some description, and where people can come and go at different times, or just stay for a few hours. I think I just described a pub. :)

Slightly tempted by Young Hickory (coffee house in North Park with beer), but it tends to be full of Macbooks and students on weekend afternoons. A noisy group taking over several tables for hours might not be popular...

I'm flexible on the location and venue.....but not Shakeys please :)

Right, let's plan for February 22nd so that this doesn't get forgotten again. I'm thinking afternoon, 3ish? 4ish?

Venues, here are a few thoughts:

• Station Tavern in South Park. Pub - beer, burgers etc, less hipstery than Tiger!Tiger! but quite family friendly
• Stone Brewing Liberty Station? Great outdoor space and bocce ball (!), but pretty limiting for those who don't want to drink beer. Food's pretty good but expensive.
• Somewhere in OB - Tower Two maybe?
• Shakespeare's. Not a fan of the food but pretty good space and variety.

Thoughts?
