But hey, I think the US is better prepared for winter than the UK seems to be.

Thanks for the Expat rides link, I've asked for a quote. I'm thinking they'll take advantage of the situation though, stupid not to.

I also heard about the Globe, but was hoping someone can tell me if I can subscribe to any PayTV packages so I can watch it at home..

Cheers
We got 22" of snow in a single storm in February - that's what Mr Emjoy was referring to

That isn't typical though for a single snowfall, but 12-15" is not uncommon and 6-9" is regular. You do get used to it though, and it is sort of nice to have snow over Christmas.

I'm looking forward to it! I'd love the kids to experience snow at christmas.

Thanks,

They will

Only one year in the 6 I've been here we didn't have at least snow on the ground at Christmas, that was 2006. I remember playing in the back garden with my son and nephew on Christmas Eve, and it was in the mid 60s Fahrenheit!

We are considering a move to Aurora, or another suburb. Neither of us know Chicagoland except as visitors, (we have an aunt in Warrenville), but are looking for someplace with good train access to O'Hare, but out of the main suburban area.

But the main issues -
where to buy Cadburys chocolate
ditto . . . . . ..Weetabix
ditto . . . . . .decent gravy.

And we've heard rumors of an Aston Villa Supporters Club. True?
If so, where are they?

I live in Plainfield, abut 20 minutes away from Aurora, and if you go to a Meijer store, they have all those items...I just bought myself some jammy dodgers and maltesers

Just remembered, can you get Tetley's decaffeinated tea anywhere?
Decaff always tastes feeble in the US, I had to bring it from UK when we lived in Idaho, please tell me IL has got it figured!

Maltesers? wow, was not expecting that, made my day: )

Oh!

I'm east of you then

Near Jefferson park and Edge-brook, if you look on a map.

You're close to O'connors Deli, they sell good bacon and have some English stuff but it is pricey.

7280 West Devon Avenue, Chicago, IL

Also, go to Jewel Osco and ask for the Irish Section, it's near the Asian stuff normally, they sell Tetleys and a lot of English Choccies.

If you need a better cup of tea you can get Yorkshire Tea at Fresh Farms:
5740 West Touhy Avenue, Niles, IL

Closer to Evanston also.
