Any Madison, WI Brits?
There have been a few posts in the past about Madison-area Brits. Anyone still around? My husband is British, and our kids are dual citizens, so it'd be great to find some other British people in the area. We lived in England for more than two years, and there is much that I miss.

Great! Are you interested in meeting up next time you're in the area? PM me if you are! As it happens, I'm coming down to Florida myself next month.

I don't know how diverse north Florida is, but Madison is pretty diverse for Wisconsin. On my block, for instance, we have Indian families, an interracial lesbian couple, a family I believe is from China (we don't speak each other's language, so I don't know them very well). Everyone else, though, is white, mostly middle-class families. I'd say that's representative of Madison as a whole.

Steve -- How long have you lived in the area? (Deerfield isn't too far away, so we'll still count it! )
We moved here in November 2010, and I'm pretty sure we're settled here for good. I'm from Wisconsin, and it's nice to be near family.
Do you know of other Brits in the area? I know there must be, but we haven't met anyone. And, seeing as my husband is British and our two (soon to be three) children are dual citizens, it'd be nice to get to know some other Wisconsin Brits.
We haven't made it back to England since moving back to the United States in early 2010. I miss it, though, and hope to visit soon.
Where in England are you from? My husband grew up in Stockport, right outside Manchester.

Drove through both Towns, yesterday, on my way to and from Milwaukee. Well, I bypassed Deerfield on I-94

Jim -- Do you live in Milwaukee? Is there are large British population there?
Each fall, I keep an eye out for any news of a Guy Fawkes celebration -- thus far, unsuccessfully. I would love to have a bonfire night sometime!

No, I'm in Dubuque, IA. Been here for 17 years. I drive a Tour Bus, so, I pass through quite a bit. Yesterday, I was dropping a Group at Milwaukee Airport. In a few days, I will be back in Madison, picking up a Group at the Airport, there.
I'm up for a Meet......if we can arrange it.
Edit: Oh, and if there is a "Piggly Wiggly" anywhere near you, you should be able to pick up a Pasty, there.

I'm a Wisconsin Brit. (That feels like some sort of weird confession!)
I'm right on the WI/IL border, off of I-94. Don't get to Madison much, but we're in Milwaukee practically every week.
Is this thread dead? Maybe no-one loves WI Brits anymore...

This thread is as alive as I can keep it. Glad to hear of another WI Brit -- still haven't found any in Madison, though! How long have you been in the United States/Wisconsin?

Re: Any Madison, WI Brits?
There's an Aussie friend of mine who lives in Madison. You know... because Australia and the UK are sooooo close together, and we might as well all have the same accent.
I've been in the USA on and off since 2001, but got married in 2006 and emigrated early 2008. We have two little boys and I work down in Illinois as a senior editor for a pharmaceutical company. It's a nice life and I like it here.
What about you?

Re: Any Madison, WI Brits?
I'm from Wisconsin originally, but we didn't move back here until November 2010, after living in Charlotte, NC for about six months. Before that, we lived in Stockport outside of Manchester, for a little over two years. That's where my husband is from. But when I met him in 2007, he'd already been living in the United States, on and off, for six years or so, working for a UK company that needed someone to work over here.
Do you find that you like Wisconsin? My husband was worried about the winters, but actually hasn't minded the snow and cold at all -- and that's saying something this winter! I think I'm more impatient than him for spring (summer, now, almost) to arrive!
