Any Brits in Albany / Schenectady area?

Re: Any Brits in Albany / Schenectady area?
Small world. We moved from Evesham, Worcestershire for my husbands job with GE. I'm only about 10 miles from you. I think I've sent you a direct email but there was an air of weirdness about it. Something about I didn't have enough expat posts ...... If you don't get it, let me know here.

We are from Sheffield originally, living in Clifton Park for the last couple of years. Always interested in meeting local expats. I have to agree with Mahars, Pump Station and add Browns in Troy to the list of decent pubs. There is a new English pub in Albany too, but not had chance to check it out. Putnam market is decent but expensive, and we generally love the Saratoga, NY area.
I didn't realize we had so many expats in the area. Perhaps we should arrange a night out some time?

I keep visiting there hoping to hear a British accent but I am still waiting... really miss a good gossip with my British girlfriends

I tried out that English pub in Albany "Ye Olde English" (of course!) down on Broadway . They try very hard to make it feel like a British pub, wonky chairs and all and they do a daily meat pie

The Olde English Pub in Albany is very good :-) Just went there yesterday (my third time), and my nephew and I ordered the battered sausage w/ chips, steak/potato pie of the day (they only make 12 daily), and a beef/onion pasty. All of that food came to $21, + $7 for a Fuller's London Pride, and $3 for a coke for my nephew :-)
Lil' Britain is also good (and a nice ride out to Bennington, especially during the spring/summer), but A Salt and Battery in Manhattan is very overpriced, and I've found the service very rude. "Tea and Sympathy", which is the 'fancier' restaurant next door is very good (but also expensive). But hey, it's NYC!
Clifton Park here, btw. American-British (dual citizen) - mother is from Banbury.

Hi everyone,
I'm the USC and originally from Schoharie (near Cobleskill). Planning on moving back with my husband (the UKC) at the end of this year. It'd be nice to meet up for a pint and a chin wag once we arrive.
We're currently in Redditch, Worcs. And of course, it's grey and cold. But oh well, some perry makes it better.

We're going to be home for two weeks in July and would love to meet up with some fellow Brits before the move. Anybody available to meet at the Olde English in Albany in middle of July?

Hello, Sergeyvo, we moved from the Forest of Dean, husband worked in Bristol, in September last year. My husband now works in Rensselaar. Small world. We also have a daughter she is 10 yrs. Do you like it here? it's certainly different but we're adjusting well. We should get together some time.

I like the US especially for my new position and money, but all of us are missing the UK. My daughter misses her good friends there. And people work tooooo hard in this country, I can't relax
Please feel free to send me a private message once you have time to meet. We're pretty available during weekends.

Sounds like we need to start planning an October-ish rendez-vous for all the 'Brits' in the area.

Can I come too? Have just moved to Niskayuna from Somerset. Still exploring, but have located the British section in Price Chopper, just in case I suddenly have a need for Birds Custard, or Pataks curry paste..

Okey dokey people. Here's the plan......
Sat 27th Oct 2012, 7:30pm at the Olde English Pub in Albany. http://www.theoldeenglish.com/
Probably best if you post your intention to come along here (or by PM) so we know to look out for you.
