Wife found a job with a local package. What about her visa?
 

Hello,

My family moved to Abu Dhabi last year as i found a job here. The company has sponsored me the Emirates ID and Residence Visa. And then I sponsor for my wife and my kid. Now after a few months time my wife has also got a job offer in Abu Dhabi. She will be on the local package and her employer can offer the sponsorship as well.

Does anyone know what's the implication to get sponsorship from her employer versus remain sponsored by me? Also, does anyone know what a local package mean?

1. Well the obvious advantage in getting her employer to sponsor her is that she's no longer dependent on YOU in staying in the country. But factors such as health care level (your employer's versus hers), leave flights for her etc will probably play an important part in your decision.Only you/her can decide which option to take.

2. I would assume "local package" means hiring someone who's already in the country and may not include leave flights back to her home country. But irrespective of whether its called a 'local package', 'expat package' or 'VIP royalty package' I would really look at the employment offer t&c's as that is what's important - not the package name. Again its something which only you/her can decide on.
