Default UAE experience

Keep hearing this a lot and would like to know what is the definition of 'UAE experience' when applying for jobs. Surely common sense and knowledge should suffice? Your response would be really appreciated.

It basically means prior experience of working in the United Arab Emirates. Does that help?

Thank you, do you have any specific information. I now have survived the Dubai driving experience but have nothing to relate to in the job front. Just trying to get an understanding on the differences.

As above, it means that you've worked in the UAE before.

You need to be keenly aware of what "common" sense really means: in this context it means "pertaining or belonging equally to an entire community, nation or culture". So what passes for common sense in UK does not necessarily pass for the same here.

And as to knowledge: knowledge of what? You may well be expert in the technical aspects of your particular field, but if that knowledge is not combined with the experience of using that knowledge in this environment or one similar to it, then such knowledge may be of reduced value.

Nevertheless, everybody's got to start somewhere, so if you've not worked here before push your knowledge, skills, eagerness, resilience and adaptability. And make sure you've done some research.

Good luck

Thank you, this is extremely helpful. Do you by any chance have any antidotes or examples that you have seem people do? Would be totally bored if I did not have a job.

Antidotes are widely available, I had several at the Tavern in the Sheraton last night.

Glad you had a good time. Assuming it was too good a night to write down. Thank you for the earlier comments.

'UAE experience' could also be a shortcut for looking for people who are already here so relocation costs are cut.

It is so annoying as I do not have these presumed costs as I will be here on my husband's visa. Agencies are mentioning this as well. I keep on till I get there.

Thank you

Have an abundance. I now need to add to the list and cross-check! Like they say 'Getting there is all part of the journey'.
