Saudi visa invitation letter
Hi guys,
I got a job offer from a university in Saudi Arabia in July 2014, and the university applied (allegedly around July/August) for a visa block invitation letter from the ministry of labour. However, they still have not received anything.
The wait has been truly long (4 months now), and my life is literally on hold . I have enquired several times with the university and all they keep saying is "we have no news, and we will be in touch once we get the letter".
If someone has gone through this process recently, I would be grateful to read their stories and some timelines.
Thanks

If the university did not have an existing block visa then yes, the process can be lengthy. My experience here is that things happen usually when I've either given up all hope or am least expecting it.

Yes they did not have one (block visa).
They do things in a mysterious way, so they never disclose how the process is progressing. They do not give timelines of when things could potentially happen which makes it very difficult to plan ahead.
You are right, I am about to give up here. I am expecting a baby late January, and if things are not sorted by mid-Dec at the latest, I won't be able to make it for the second semester on time. I do not know if going late will be an issue for them? I have waited 4 months and still counting, so hopefully they will wait for me too.

wanted to know that to see if I could find any info on Dave's ESL Cafe Saudi forum about this place. Doesn't seem to be anything recent as far as I could tell from my searches.

just see it as a sign of things to come. If you can't stand the admin issues while you're out there in cozy-land, you won't last a month here.

There are threads on Daves ESLcafe about the Islamic University of Medina.
