Salary expectation Qatar for QS

I stand relatively corrected, colleague reckons consultancy probably 50k, contractor maybe a touch more.

A very good friend of mine is working for Q.P.M as a Project Manager at Education City in Doha and he's on 38KQAR basic / 18K Housing / 54 days Annual leave amongst all the other perks plus he works from 7.30am to 2.30pm 5 days a week....
Nice work if you can get mate...That's a Governmental based Project Management Arm Company mind but there's still good deals to be had here in Qatar.
Not as good as 3 years ago though when people were getting 30-40% more for being here as they couldn't get anyone but there's still value out there if you want to come here , obviously that wont last long as the market has already started to correct itself accordingly.

Decent stuff with QPM but a difficult operation to work for, very much all hands tied by the upper guys. They must be pulling back totally into Qatar now, the projects in Morocco, Syria, Libya, and two in Cairo are all looking like stopping.

Remember Qatar's not a Goldmine for expats , the guys that are having the biggest trouble are the ones coming in from Dubai who are expecting massive increments as they think they're walking into a war zone . Not enough Brunches and only 1 Louis Vuitton shop in Doha....
My advice would be push for more but don't price yourself out of the job obviously they'll always be a monkey who'll do it for less and your agent will have that monkey dangling as well.
Good Luck

Have you also enquired about working week? For instance alot of companies will expect a 6 day week with long hours for this rate. Whereas there are positions offering slightly less for 5 day week. With a family its all about balance.

You have been quoted the going market rate for the ME, all included package, I will be surprised if you can get anything on top. Unless you have a specialisation like MEP. Never hurts to try though eh?

We all know that recruiters drive salaries down and try to persuade people to come to UAE because of the lifestyle and they love telling you "it's tax free"

It's going to cost you 10K for an entry level 4 bedroom villa and 1K for your utilities and internet .
Car rental is expensive here 2K for a Nissan Tilda and 4K for a 4X4 . Schooling i'm not sure but it's expensive try http://dohabritishschool.com/ a lot of my friends use it and it's got a good reputation here.
Shopping will cost you minimum 2K per month and then entertainment after that which at the moment its 45QAR for a pint of Stella , so it's not cheap .
Do some sums and work out what you'll save or what you can afford to lose , i suggest going back for your flights and schooling or at least getting a negotiation on them . The firm knows the cost of everything but usually the value of f*** all so push em a bit .
