Visa process can take a very long time. Certainly it is too short from now to September, this is if they respond at all.

Last question: is it common for these Universities to also recruit for January start? Or do they mainly look for new recruits to start in September only?
Cheers

It is possible, but the problem as I said is the visa, which is out of their hands. I know cases where it took more than 7 months to get a visa. The country is so complicated and I advise avoiding it.

Re: Recruitment process at KFUPM, Saudi Arabia
Hi all,
I have recently applied for an engineering faculty position at KFUPM, having heard/read that KFUPM is among the top Saudi Universities, by sending my CV to the faculty directly.
After about 2 months, they replied back requesting me to complete a green application form, apparently KFUPM official recruitment application form. I have completed this over the last few days.
I have two basic questions, which I hope you can help me clarify please .
1- How does the recruitment process progress at KFUPM (i.e. the next steps), and how long does it normally take?
2- What sort of salary bracket should I expect, if I am successful hopefully? The position is for Assistant Professor. I have been working in a top UK university for the last 5 years as postdoc researcher. I, thus, have a strong research profile and moderate teaching experience.
Thanks,
P.S. This is my first post, so please be gentle .

KFUPM receive many applications for posts - mainly from nationals of Asian countries. Getting a job there is NOT as easy as you might think. English teaching is still dominated by "Western" faculty. Technical fields have mainly Saudi, other Arab, and Asian teachers.

You may not hear anything. You may well hear long after you have given up.

Sorry to invade your thread OP, but did you end up getting/taking the offer? How much was your basic salary. Am asking because am in a similar position with an offer from PMU. Newly attained PhD with 3 years teaching experience (during the PhD) and substantial peer reviewed publications.
Any ideas what I should expect for the basic salary as an assistant professor?
Thanks very much!

Some people start in the second semester as I did (twice !) There are implications for End of Service Benefit. The semester from Jan to June will not count when they calculate end of service benefits. Your vacation salary for the summer will be paid on a pro-rata basis so you will in effect only get salary form one month in summer instead of two. You will get full ticket benefits..
