Qatar - Salary and academic qualification: any relationship?
Hi all,
Apart experience, how much importance should we give to academic qualification (PhD, MBA, etc.) during salary negotiation?
Thanks for any constructive input

Quite a lot, I would have thought. I'd be surprised if a technical company didn't require high-level academic qualifications for its Technical Director, and therefore the salary it intends to pay should reflect that. If you're thinking along the lines of "I've got an MSc therefore I'm worth more", if I were hiring I'd think "An MSc's a must and the offered/intended salary recognises that--I might pay more for a PhD, but does the role really need it and would the higher qualification add value, and if so how much?".
If you think your qualifications merit higher pay, it's up to you to demonstrate to your prospective employer what value they'll add.
