Management job at Qatar Airways in Doha
I am interviewing for a managerial job at Qatar Airways. There is quite a bit of negative commentary about them on this forum and elsewhere. Anyone here working for them at the moment? Do they provide housing for managers (i.e. staff other than crew members)? Do they provide multiple exit permits? What is the atmosphere/culture like in HO? People? Any first hand experiences would be much appreciated.

second hand I'm afraid but we hosted a guy who worked in just such a job for QA a month or so ago. He had housing provided. He was under a lot of pressure to work long into each evening and weekends with his boss increasing his workload while not increasing her own. He had a multiple entry/exit. Doesn't mean you will though!
He regaled us with stories of entire crews (cabin and flight) being sacked for a small error by one individual crew member on a flight. Sounded like a nightmare company to work for. Despite that, pilots are applying to them in droves.

Leaving aside QR, there's also the whole issue of living in Doha in the first place. Just be aware of what you're getting into. It's a dusty, dreary city with little to recommend to it.

Sicklyman, how long has this person (the one you hosted) been with QA? Recently employed or a few years now? Just out of interest: How old are they? Single? When you say he had multiple EP and I may not, why do you say that? Do you mean QA is very selective in who gets multiple EP?
DXBtoDOH, I have read quite a lot on this forum re: living in Qatar and I am approaching the idea of moving there with zero expectations regarding quality of life / fun. Whilst it seems like a sad and boring place my motivation is very simple: pocket the good pay packets, save a lot for a 2-3 years and head back home with financial security in my pocket.
I had my first interview with their HR and the two ladies were very professional. I am having my second interview with some very senior people tonight and I am hoping it will go well. From what I understand everyone (including crew) eventually gets interviewed by Al Baker (CEO) which sounds a bit odd. (Can’t imagine my current CEO interviewing so many people) In addition, my second interview is not with the person I am expecting to report into but with that person’s manager which also sounds slightly odd. I am just hoping to get some more inside information. Any other constructive feedback would be highly appreciated.
Thanks
