Hey

I am seeking advice on how to go about getting a job as a Civil project engineer/manager in Saudi Arabia on the High Speed Rail Project. I have 7 years experience of which 4 years has been within the railways. My competencies are mainly within bridge design and multidiscipline railway works i.e. signalling and electrification. I am qualified to MEng and close to attaining chartership.

There aren't many opportunities on any of the recruitment agency website so I was just wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction.

Most of the big construction projects like that are usually run as a joint project between the Saudi authorities and usually a large European construction specialist. I would imagine the best place to look for opportunities wouldn't necessarily be in Saudi or the Saudi job sites, but with the European contracting companies.

I don't know who the Saudi's are using as their partner for this project, but perhaps you're better placed to approach them ( whoever they are - Google it?)

A lot of the stations etc are being constructed by El Seif, ESEC. Not sure about the actual lines.

One of the guys who used to post on here under username PRWatts worked in Saudi rail projects. Worth searching his posts or sending him a PM to see if he's still here.

Also one of the Contractors I know in Riyadh is bidding for SRO works and they will be looking for qualified staff if successful. Send me a PM.

Does it have to be in KSA? In Abu Dhabi there's a big transport thing going on. The PM FLUOR are the guys to approach.

I also believe that the major French comms company--I can't recall their name--which does signalling and comms on the UK rail network have won a part of one of the projects. Just googlewhack it.
