It's true plenty of companies use hotmail/gmail/yahoo accounts to remain anonymous. The question you've got to ask yourself is why they need to remain unknown. I would never ever in a million years send my CV to a company looking for people in this way.

Of course if you're in the right field you don't have to apply for jobs, they come looking for you...Ask nicely and I might divulge what I do for a living

I'm not sure that is a much sought after role (especially in the middle east)...

The gay porn industry definitely do not solicit CV's on expat forums either, not that I know anything about it. Maybe you do?

My job is a lot more technical, and there is usually a smart casual dress code although where I'm currently working (in Saudi) there is an option to wear local attire (ie thobe and gutra). I haven't seen any expats wearing it to the office yet, but could be quite funny...

Wow! this is taking scamming to a new level. I can't believe these A-holes have the nuts to post in a public forum.

Thankfully we are not all scammers.

For the doubters, I posted this thread to try to help people who may be worried about their jobs and/or looking for new opportunities. It was a quick thread posting initially to test the water and to try to help people (and dare I say it, to make some money for my own company along the way......thats business), apologies for not posting our full contact details in the first instance.

Having grown up in Sharjah and Dubai from 1976 and done business in the Middle East for the last 20 years and having been there last year when the credit crunch really was hitting home, then I only wished to help a few people find new opportunities. Regretfully it seems as though my good intentions have been misconstrued in the extreme by some.

We have a number of clients in Libya looking for primarily short term positions in the Oil/Gas industries and we are looking to assist them in filling those positions.

My company, Emares, is a procurement consultancy based in the UK, however given the demand by our clients for decent and time served contracting professionals we have thus set up a manpower/recruitment division to try to satisfy their requirements. That is entrepreneurship, you see an opportunity and you go for it. Apologies to those that think making money is a sin!!!

As for using a hotmail account, well we have used it for years and "if it works then why change it" as they say. We don't have a website as we pick and choose the opportunities that suit us and not be deluged with meaningless enquiries. How we run our business is our business, all I will say is that reputation carries far more weight than a flashy website and domain orientated email address.

I trust this has put the record straight and the doubters have been silenced (though I suspect they will come back with some meaningless quip!).

If you email me then I would be pleased to supply our UK office address and contact details. We have nothing to hide whatsoever, despite what some may think.

Wow, cool job. So does he dive down or just use some kind of rod / robotic animal? (excuse my ignorance, I'm not in O&G)
