I am thinking of moving to Dubai. I am currently in US working in IT Industry as Technical Lead/Project Manager position(CRM & ERP) Can anybody tell me as to what are the chances of finding an IT Manager or IT Project Manager position? Also is there any chance of finding the job while staying here and attending the Interview through Phone. I can come for personal Interview if required.

Please advice me guys. I am planning to visit for 2 months taking Family leave of absence this summer. but it all depends on the job situation in Dubai or abu dhabi

There are a lot of threads on this, probably explains the lack of response. Please take an hour and work through all threads in the ME forum.

To be honest, both markets are pretty poor. Dubai has been on its knees since 2008/9 and AD is now catching up and cancelling big projects all over the place.

If you have a desire to work in the ME, then look at Qatar and KSA for work as both these markets are more robust at the minute. Both have issues that you don't get in Dubai/AD ...

btw, I called few recruitment houses and couple of friends in Dubai. They seems to be optimistic. They are seeing some good signs it seems.

I hope it works out for you, pal, but in many industries there's very little momentum and an increasing number of Indian sub-continentals being employed.

My ex company boss preferred employing Filipinos and Indians because they were dirt cheap. They would work for 1000-5000dhs per month. That's what you are up against.

He even hired scriptwriters to write website and magazine copy and news in English. None of them could write in English. He didn't care that nothing made sense or sounded stupid, or said the exact opposite of what it should have. All that mattered to him was that he could pay them peanuts. Now in IT the Indian workers are usually exceptionally good - but they still get paid much less than you would.

To make it work you need to do something that someone MUCH cheaper cannot do. All the IT people I've worked with here have been Indian. from the ones in charge, to the ones designing networks to the ones fixing your email.

Agree with Lullabelle, you're up against an enormous number of Indian IT 'specialists' who will work for considerably less than you would expect as a minimum to work here.

Good luck though in your quest, but don't be disappointed if it doesn't work out.

Thanks guys for the valuable information and advice. I am planning to go to Dubai for Couple of months in August this year anyway .hope it gets better by that time. Like I said before, I am taking the Leave of absence, so always have a backup in case nothing works out.

The press is not like the press you know. Even if the Burj was falling down they would be telling you otherwise. I've also noticed the formally more unbiased The National becoming more and more "praising" recently.

Because of what I do, I get press releases emailed to me constantly. Most of them are deluded and laughable. Many papers just print them verbatim.
