Hi all!
New to all this, I have tried searching other blogs for this info and cant find it, so apologies if im repeating what others have put!
I am a serving police officer in the UK (as is my partner) we have family in various parts of the UAE. We were looking to relocate out there, can anyone give me advice re work for me? Not necessarily as a Police Officer.
Many thanks

I doubt you'd get to join the local force, even if you spoke fluent Arabic.
There may be some security jobs, but others will have more info than me.
Why do you want to move to the UAE?

Thanks for your reply.
There are many reasons for relocating, family mainly but also new challenges and different lifestyle appeal too.

I know (or used to, they've now left) two UK plods who were seconded here to assist with the development of the UAE force. Since it was secondment it was obviously organised through the UK force, so perhaps you could approach your HR dept. They were both here until last year, but I don't know if the programme is continuing.
Initially I was going to say that the male-based culture here would likely make it difficult for you, but on second thoughts they do have female officers here so maybe there's a niche.
Hope that helps

Thanks Bahtatboy, although with the changes and cuts etc with the UK forces at the moment I think secondments and the like are all on hold.
I dont speak Arabic and am not pinning my hopes on getting a job as an Police Officer, maybe more security or investigation, but like you say being female might be a sticking point

The UAE scuffers only employ UAE nationals.
Depending on what your role has been in the UK plod, there are plenty of openings in consultancy type positions with both the UAE feds and in defence.

Police in Dubai are Green suits, Pakistanis and poorer Arabs. Beige suits Locals as Officers. This is the general rule of thumb but is quite close. Im sure some of the security firms employ female guards and investigators also maybe some work as CP for royals/VIPs. ASK, ESS and AESS are three of the local fimrs who may have some work also Transguard may have some contacts. Been out of the CP/ Guarding loop for a while but these firms are still in the game.

Im sure there is plenty of work for undercover honey trap style/spy on my husband services, lots of paranoid women here (probably rightly so) and Im sure they would be willing to pay through the nose for such a service!

Sure they would, Big bucks in divorcing wealthy men as well lol.

I've read a few times that private investigators are illegal here but it might just be that following/surveillance is illegal.
If I was you I would contact the big events/ mall /big contract security groups and see what they suggest. Chances are they'll be ex police/military too and will probably point you in the right direction if there is one.
I used to be a police officer and now I'm an English teacher at a uni here but it took time and qualifications to make the switch at a similar pay scale.
Good luck
