Employment dilemma
Hi
Can anyone advise on the following please?
A friend has accepted an employment offer in Doha, signing a provisional offer doc and the employer has applied for a visa. At the last minute a better offer has been tabled by his preferred employer, but he is unsure of whether he can back track and accept with the preferred employer, given the first employer has his passport copy and has applied for a visa?
Is he stuck ?

Re: Employment dilemma
Just tell the prospective employer that circumstances have changed, and due to personal reasons they regret to have to turn down their offer at this time.....and then keep their fingers crossed that the preferred employer does not come back and say sorry we made a mistake and do not need you!!!!!

Re: Employment dilemma
Its like any other job.
If you resign for another job, and get a counter offer that you like better, what do you do?
The only difference is that a paperwork might have started on this side, but, to be honest, thats not your problem. With work i've learned, you cant have feelings, cause in the end, they dont have any. They might want to try charging the costs of paperwork, that will show you the type of company you scaped from.
Just pick the one who fits better and the other to the trash. The only risk is the one mentioned previously

Re: Employment dilemma
Thanks for the replies guys. The worry was that there may be some ridiculous Qatar labour law/ rule about having a work temp visa in place not allowing any subsequent movement to another employer even though you havent arrived in the country to start work. Fingers crossed
