Data Cabling Contacts

We are looking to relocate our family to Abu Dhabi and would be grateful if anyone out there could give us some job contacts.

My husband has been running his own successful business selling and installing data cabling all over the UK for the last 16 years. He provides network cabling solutions for offices, schools, warehouses and even homes.

We would appreciate any help to get us started.

I work within IT and all data cabling is done by partners (who are cheap).

I think you would struggle to setup an operation out here.

Re: Data Cabling Contacts

If he provides "solutions", ie including design of the networking hardware, then I think there may be opportunities, but that would involve him subcontracting the installation to cheap TCN outfits, which he'd have to have knowledge of. It he actually only does the cabling, then he knows well that that became commoditised around when he started, and he'd be competing in the UAE with the cheap TCN outfits mentioned above. He needs to be at the top of the value/technology pile to have a chance. Sorry to be negative.

Re: Data Cabling Contacts

ok, thanks for that. Setting up our own operation over there is definitely not what we want to do - too much stress involved! I understand about the cheap labour as we were out there 16 years ago before we came back to the UK and set our business up. What about project management jobs - do you think that would be an option? Unfortunately he is not involved in the actual design of any hardware he advises companies what infrastructure they need and then installs it. He doesn't do the installations these days, we have employees and subcontractors for that, he sources the work, prices it and project manages.

Appreciate your help
Thanks
