civil engineer - going rate??

Hi all

Am trying to get an accurate picture of average monthly salary for civil engineers in UAE/Qatar/Saudi....have figure of about 40k dirham for UAE? is this about right? would accommodation be included/flights/medical??

thanks. think given current climate i would take it for myself for 6 motnhs and leave family (wife and baby) at home until we see if this place implodes altogether!!

cheers

It would depend on how much experience you have. A figure of AED 40k/month all inclusive probably wouldn't be far off the mark maybe a bit on the high side but again it all depends on experience.

I am here because my employer moved me here, as opposed to people actively searching for positions here. I accepted the position based on what Dubai was like back in the late 90's early 00's. Had I realised just how much its sold out to the get-rich-quick, paved-with-gold brigade, I probably would not have come. I am here till my employer moves me on some place else and I would not turn my nose up at 95% of possible postings to stay here...

Ah, well.. Dubai doesnt do unemployment numbers, coz you aint allowed to stay once your employers fired you....

fair enough which is why i would come out on my own (and not do the whole buy a house and two cars lark) and make a few quid rather than scratching about here looking for work....if i got let go then so be it.....although to be fair its not too easy getting work there at the moment i accept

Hi,
40k/month AED sounds great, for what position ? is this the offer? for Dubia? my husband got offered a job in Saudi and he's not getting that much, maybe they have shot changed him- but the company pays for housing, bills, cars, 1 flight home, but nothing for me and baby!!
