Think you need to read between the lines and interpret what they were saying which I haven't to be honest
however
another pal of mine has just taken a senior position in the ME with LOR based out of Dubai
Perhaps its about keeping a minimal presence here to tout for work instead of constructing anything but they dont appear to going anywhere fast.
Reminds me of rather large cockroach (about 2.5 inches and yukky brown)that was whizzing around my patio the other morning. Drowned it in Pif Paf and went off to work. Came back 9 hours later and it was still wriggling its legs a little. Now a little roach dies almost immediately but this big one took a helluva long time. In fact I didnt see it die at all. It just wasnt there in the morning so perhaps it recovered or got swallowed up by something so ruthless it would eat a roach. Who knows

I run recruitment for a large UAE based construction firm. We have a very temporary freeze on but there are some senior positions that we have available: Project Director, QA/QC positions, Plant Manager, etc...

Such a shame that a company like Laing O'rourke ( a company that has mispent millions of Aldors finances by their mismanaged approach to everything) has been on the receiving end of all this bad press,
such a shame indeed.
i'm sure that if i was financing multi million DHS contracts i would want a "top heavy" company running them, yes i would stipulate that why hire just one incompetent manager to do a job when 10 incompetent managers can do that one job just as badly, and LOR have can get these people at a moments notice. "Jobs for the incompetent eh"
LOR should hold it's head in shame for raping the economy of Adu Dhabi assuming that it's finances were a bottomless pit which they could use to employ inexperienced managers at ground level on the sites,
also, apparently the criteria for safety managers is such that you should be fat, to the extent that your shirt no longer fits you properly, be grossly incompetent at your job and be the project managers "pet bitch"
sometimes a word in the ear is far better served than a slap to it stu,
anyway i've said my bit

So how many of the ALOR guys are still on the ground at Al Raha ? I drove over from Yas a couple of weeks ago and Al Zeina looked almost finished. Would be interesting to know who managed to hold out to the end lmfao. They should have paid off the car loans by now

Take that as a no then???? We don't know anyone who still works for them but I have heard about a few that got other jobs and are now out of work again. One of the benefits of being in the Middle East unfortunately.
