Hi there
First a brief background, my soon to be wife is american and Im in the UK,
we met over the internet in 1995 she came over in 1996 and we lived over
here before she went back to file for K1 for me, we have a son together![Smile](https://britishexpats.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)
So we've been together hmm 8-9 years, have that many years photos to show
for it.
So anyways when I get to america we're going to live with her folks until I
get AOS and start to work and then we will be able to afford our own place.
I see everyone here takes util's bills to the interview, well I wont have
any, about the only thing that we will have is bank statements and health
care insurance.
Can anyone see any problems for us?
Cheers

Nope, this is pretty much what we had when we did our AOS here in Boston, MA last month and we had no trouble at all.

The lack of utility bills in a joint name at the AOS interview should not be an issue.
You are counting your chickens before they are hatched, however. You don't mention which district USCIS office you will be using. It might well be that you will not be adjusting status for 1 or more years after you have applied for the benefit. By that time you and your family might well be living away from her parents and have all the joint bills that shout "married". Even if you don't, those bills are only a small part of proving your relationship.
I'm sorry to read that you didn't marry while your significant other was living with you in the UK. If you had, it would have been so simple for her to apply for your residency through the US Consulate in London. As it stands now, you will enjoy (joke there) the pleasures of not only the K-1 but filing for adjustment of status, filing for work permission, filing for permission to travel and return to the US, filing for social security hassles, etc.
Good luck

To be honest the reason we didn't get married is that Ive only got a very
small living family left (around 5 members) and her family is huge, and also
(and Im not being sexist here) I think that a wedding day is more for the
bride, and I want to know what is right to make her happy.
Ive got the K1 and depart the Uk sunny shores for the west coast in a few
weeks, the not being able to work is going to drive me around the bend.
Thanks anyhow for taking the time to reply to my thread![Smile](https://britishexpats.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)
