I met my fiance when we both worked at a ranch in southern Colorado last summer. He was a wrangler and I thought he made a very hot looking cowboy! Cowboy boots, hat and horse... couldn't go far wrong!
After a couple of months we went to live in the city together where the cowboy attire disappeared but we still did a fair bit of mountain exploring and camping.
We had a long summer romance, which continued when I flew back to England and we got engaged 9 months later![Smile](https://britishexpats.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)
All weird and wonderful stories welcome here!

My husband picked me up out of the gutter
Seriously, he did - we met when I was on a girls night out (hadn't been in a relationship in over a year) and was celebrating just gotten back from Italy. Anyhooooooooo, whilst out with the gals I had one
too many drinkypoos and as we were leaving the last watering hole, my heel slipped from under me and I ended up in the gutter. Next thing I know is this handsome blonde, tanned Californian (first American I'd ever spoken too) picking me up and escorting me to a taxi.
This was in my home town in the UK - and here we are - 25 years later

At a party while we were both attending the same college. I wasn't really interested in a long term thing but she insisted, so we married.

Decided to study overseas for a semester in Glasgow. While there, I wanted to meet some local guys, so I put a personal ad on match.com. He contacted me first, and about 3 weeks later we met up in a club/bar. Been together ever since.

We meet on MIRC's 40Plus on Efnet. Actually knew his wife and sister-in-law for a year before I put 1 and 2 together to come up with 3. For the record, he was legally separated from his wife with court papers and everything but they were and still are the best of friends.

Met my husband through a penpal club that I had joined when I was in High School. Corresponded through written letters for 7+ years and then moved on to e-mails and the occasional phone call, then thought "Hey, maybe we should meet..." He lived with me in America for three months and then I in turn visited him in England during which we became engaged. Moved to England to be with him and stayed for 5 years until last December when we moved back to the U.S. after having suceeded in securing a green card for him. Oh the joys of international relationships!!!!

on the intranet (not internet) at the University. Part of my course used computers so after the lesson finished we stayed on and chatted on the intranet chatroom (students only). I kept chatting to the same bunch of people (as did my friends) but I felt connected to one in particular. He was a computer student so when he asked me out I was very reluctant to meet him fearing he would be a total nerd! Eventually I agreed to take a bunch of my mates and meet him and his mates one night for a drink. We were pretty much inseperable after that. Married 8 years later and that was 10 years ago!

I was tavelling in Turkey got onto the local American base thanks to our RAF and went to my first ever country and western bar
was pretty fascinated by the line dancing and was watching when he(OH) sat right in my view
After complaining I realised that my new view was much better
That was in the August of '95. I went back to England in the October he followed, we went back to Turkey and in November he proposed we married in January in a Turkish registery office and then again in April in an American service. This will be a 13th anniversary and it's been awesome !!!

First year of uni in Nottingham. She was a 3rd year exchange student, over for 12 months abroad to study. She wasn't studying any foreign languages, so went to the UK! She returned to the US for her final year of college. We struggled on with the long dist thing until I graduated in '01, and I moved over immediately after graduating to take up a one year internship in Texas, to join her since she started grad school there.
Got H-1B visa after that.
Got married in '04.
We actually met Sept '98, so coming up on our 10-year anniversary of meeting!

In a cafe back in Whitby called The Walrus and the Carpenter where we were both sponging free milky coffee from a mutual friend who worked there.
