Re: Where do I stand in all this?!
The I-129F is the petition that must be filed and approved before the K1 visa can be applied for. Have a read through the BE wiki on the K1 here:
http://britishexpats.com/wiki/K1
It outlines the whole process.
Can I just check: You said earlier that dad was planning on marrying in September and then applying for an Immigrant Visa (the CR1). That would have had him moving to the US around May - July 2013 as Rene noted.
With the K1 it now sounds like he'd be moving around November/December 2012. Is he aware of, and ok with, the change in timescales?
Regards,
James

Re: Where do I stand in all this?!
Thats great! Ive been looking at http://www.uscis.gov/USCIS/Resources/A2en.pdf that document, if the link works, it is also very helpful!
And yeah I get that now, Literally after I pressed post I realised they were the same thing just worded in different ways. Ive emailed Dad the document above and he's going to send it to his fiance so we can get the process started as soon as possible.
Thanks so much!

Sorry James I didnt see you post before I replied to the last one! I'll take a look at that page now, and I've spoken to my Dad and he seems okay with the change as when he first told me about the wedding he said ideally he would like to move within the next 12 months. He needs to talk to his fiance obviously but so far it seems like this is our way forward.
Thanks for your help!

The most up to date information of course will be on the USCIS website that Rene linked to earlier. The section on fiance visas is here: http://tinyurl.com/yk6omcb
Best of luck with everything.

Excellent. The wiki is very good and should help you all get clear in your minds how the process works (although it will be your dad's fiance who does most of the early work). If anything's unclear (it usually is at the start) I'm sure you'll find the regulars here to be extremely knowledgeable.

Re: Where do I stand in all this?!
The wiki is very good and now firmly saved in my favourites, it seems to have nice clear information on the documentation required as well, which I assume there will be a lot of, and the URL you gave me confirms for sure that I only have have be under 21 whereas some sites say 18 and that was starting to worry me.
Thanks again!
Thanks again!
The forum you are in now was for answering your questions about how YOU could qualify to immigrate on your own.
