Hi,

We now know my fincee's interview date. I would like to know whether we should
purchase her plane ticket before or after the interview. I have read on the embassy
web page that visas are generally issued the same day as the interview is held. Do I
get a ticket beforehand? This would save a delay in her arrival, and also demonstrate
to the embassy that we are in ernest. Or should I wait until she gets her visa? I do
know that trans-Pacific flights were quite crowded when I flew, so a ticket would be
for a date some time into the future.

Thank you, Johnathon

It doesn't matter to the visa people when you get it. I don't understand the part
about "in earnest". Why would someone go to an interview if they weren't "in
earnest"??

If there is no problem with the viza, then it will be issued the same day. It depends
on your confidence level about having all of the documentation AND the possible cost
of having to change the ticket if something happens.
