Default When is Background check?

Yeah, I really AM turning into my own worst enemy... Just when I think there's nothing left for me to obsess over, I think of something new....
When do they do the background check on my UK spouse? With the I-130 in VSC, or with the DS-230 in NVC? Or is his "police clearance certificate" or whatever it is from Scotland Yard, which is clear, sufficient at the interview? The reason I ask is because my spouse has a fairly common name, and I'm curious to see how long it will take to do a name check or whatever... He's not been convicted of anything, as evidenced by his police form... What else would they need to check... but most importantly, When?
Thanks.

My understanding is that they will check at various levels. There will be several IBIS name checks, and the US Consulate will definitely do a name check with the FBI. If there is a hit, they will call your spouse in for fingerprinting to clear it up.

Does your spouse know that they married an obssessive-complusive personality?
