Does anyone have any clue as to why there has been no progress on the I-130 immediate relative petitions for a few months. The processing times still say 9/20/02, which is the same as when I first started to check in June.

"After talking with the immigration people in the senators' offices of 3 states, I found out what holding up Vermont. They had just acquired a new building where they have moved all of the I-129Fs. The delay is two-fold: a) the physical move shut down processing for most cases and they're still getting reorganized and many petitions are just (in the Hawaii liason's words) "in the shuffle".

If your case is severely late (mine is only 2 weeks), it might be worth your time to call your senators. Be warned, congress is currently in recess, so almost everyone seems to be on vacation until the 20th (why I had to call people from 3 states). It might be quicker to simply write a letter to the BCIS VSC and let them know your case is late.

Hope this helps. "

Thanks Alecca. I was actually asking about the I-130 immediate relative category, not the I-129f. They haven't progressed at all in months.
