A YES on the enquiry about an equivalent to child benefit in the US - but a NO in response.

Lorna -- in between the jabs you've had your questions answered in the main; and the other answer you'll need to remember if you emigrate to the US is that the US is far too big to generalise about, and experiences vary greatly from state to state as in many areas the states have more power than the federal government on most issues.
