I'm thinking of sponsoring a student from Brazil, to come and study here in the U.S.
What would happen if this person quits going to school, and dissappears ie. stays in
the US with an expired visa ? Am i going to have to answer to the INS regarding this
student ? What other problems can i run into ? Thanks in adv.

Well, the only thing you need to worry about, is paying all that money for his
schooling. Even if you were not really planning to pay and his family had said
"they will take care of the fees, just sponsor him, so that he can get a visa." I
hope you trust them enough, coz he can take you to court and demand that you pay
for his college, since you agreed to sponsor him. But, if he disappears or wants to
quit school, then that won't be your problem. You won't get in any trouble. He
will. Good Luck.

Probably, but if the actions are of his own accord, and not your fault, you're not in
much trouble. If he does this you should report him to local law enforcement and INS.
That way they don't think you were just bringing him into the country illegally.
If they catch him, he will be deported.

INS may look with extreme scrutiny if you bring another foreign student.
