Depends on what the mistake is as to how I would handle it. I mean, is it something minor that they just overlooked and won't make a difference down the road or is it major like maybe a misspelled name or something? What is the mistake?

BTW, it is "consUlate." When you do immigration law, you had better be aware of the diffrence between "council" "counsel" and "consul" lest one become "disconsolate." But I digress.
It depends upon the nature of the mistake. A typgraphical error -- no problem, just tell them about it. Interviewing officers have big red pens to correct errors.
Now, if you left out your prior two marriages and proof of termination of those marriages, that is a wee bit different.
