That is the KEY difference here -- YOU, the AmCit RESIDE in the UK. In fact, London MUST take your case and consider it for DCF.

As for the support issues, it looks like your parents will have to be joint sponsors on the I-864. But it can be done.

Do NOT rule out DCF -- remember, you RESIDE in the UK.
good lord there's so much for me to learn!! I've been looking all over the damn embassy and consulate pages and have found NOTHING on DCF!!! SO THANK YOU BOTH so much for keeping this open for me....*whew*

We're not ready to move for about 6 months or so, give or take a few months...how long does this process usually take, anyway??

also, how in the WORLD do i go about getting on DCF?? I know i sound like a daft cow, but honestly...I just don't get it. i'm thick as a brick. what forms, who do i call....god i feel stupid. i saw on another post i do exactly as before with the I-130's and whatnot...soooo....how does this get me a DCF as it's not an "official" term?? do i still need the I-129F???

assuming we do get accepted for this, how soon do we have to leave the UK?? I haven't done much research on this so off I go!!!

thanks again!! you all are LIFESAVERS

I have...unfortunately, DCF isn't an "official term" that they use at the us embassy, therefor they don't seem to mention it at all!!!

alright, i'll buy that...

ok...here's what i've gathered so far.

I initially send in:

-I-130
-photocopies of: UKC birth cert, USC birth cert, Marriage cert, USC passport showing spousal visa as proof of uk residency
-ADIT photos: UKC x1, USC x1
-G-325A x2 (one his, one mine)
-Credit card slip for $130

Wait for them to get back to us with more forms....

do i pass?? *L* will the photocopies of the birth certificates and marriage certificate slide or do we have to get actual copies??

Can't help you on the process as I took the fiance route but I am sure others will help.

I think you will find that photocopies are acceptable to send off as long as you take the originals with you to the interview. That was the case with the K-1 as far as I recall..... memory fading as overburdened brain gets full of Immigration processes and the American way of life!

The trouble is that DCF isn't an official term. Here's what they say:

"How do I apply? The first step in applying for an immigrant visa is for the
U.S. citizen (petitioner) to file an immigrant visa petition, form I-130,
with the Department of Homeland Security, Bureau of Citizenship and
Immigration Services (BCIS). A separate petition must be filed for each
person immigrating. U.S. citizens resident in the United Kingdom may file
the petition, form I-130, with the Department of Homeland Security
(Immigration) in London; U.S. citizens residents in the United States should
contact their local BCIS office for further information. Note: A petition
cannot be filed for a spouse until the marriage ceremony has taken place.
The natural child of a U.S. citizen may have claim to U.S. citizenship. A
petition cannot be filed until it has been established that the child is not
a U.S. citizen."

(Source: http://www.usembassy.org.uk/cons_web/visa/iv/immrel.htm)

Note the part about U.S. citizens resident in the UK.

Andy.

These links may help: http://www.usembassy.org.uk/cons_web...bcerts.htm#HOW

http://www.usembassy.org.uk/cons_web...ccinechart.htm

For more information from consulate use http://www.usembassy.org.uk/cons_web/visa/moreinfo.htm but I suggest you exhaust your research first

One more thing in the flurry... I think that DCF takes only 3 months in the UK (someone?) and the visa is valid for 6 months (someone?) so you may want to halt your timing if you want to go back to the US later.

Download the I-130 form from here :-

http://www.immigration.gov/graphics/...orms/i-130.htm

You'll need the Acrobat reader as it is a pdf file. The form lists all
the documentation required.
