Does anyone know if the BCIS office in Bloomington, MN stil alow walk-in EAD/AOS applications? The I130 hasn't been approved yet, does this office allow AOS filing under this circumstance?

Thanks for your help.

DaGeek,

As far as I know...yes, they still allow it. We went down on 10/14/03 to renew my husband's EAD. We had tried to mail it in originally after being told by the 800 line that we could do it by post, but we got it back from Bloomington saying EAD's have to be processed in person.

We got there at 3:45 and still waited about 9 hours. Here is the link to my post: http://britishexpats.com/forum/showt...ad+minneapolis

Good luck to you.

It doesn't specifically say whether you can or can't do walk-in on the USCIS website, but here is what it says for Bloomington....

Employment Authorization Documents (EADs) (first time & renewals)
The instructions for Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization, will explain whether you file your application at a local office or at the Service Center.

Form I-765 filed with the local office should be sent to:
St. Paul District Office
2901 Metro Drive, Suite 100
Bloomington, MN 55425

Form I-765 filed with the Service Center should be sent to the Nebraska Service Center at the address found here.

And here is what it says for Atlanta (where I filed), which as you can see specifically says it's "mail only" (which it doesn't say for Bloomington)....

Employment Authorization Documents (EADs) (first time & renewals):
EADS may be filed by MAIL ONLY to this office for family based adjustments, TPS, public interest parole, and suspension of deportation. Please refer to the instructions on Form I-765 (Application for Employment Authorization) for all other inquiries.

Well, we walked in there this morning (very short line, thank God!) and filed both the EAD and AOS. They now have a new procedure in place. Although they'll accept walk-in filing, you can no longer get the temporary EAD card the same day. All your paperwork will now be forwarded to MSC/NBC by the local office (for adjudication). It does seem like the CIS is phasing out waLK-IN ead/aos everywhere.
