Default Waiver for Marij possesion experience?

We are considering options to proceed with visa processing after
receiving I-129f approval. Can anyone who has had experience with a
single marijuana possession conviction (in our case 12 years ago) less
than 1gram provide insight on how they were able to complete the visa
process?

Q1. Did anyone face this issue, answer Yes to the conviction question,
explain the circumstances and because it was old get a visa approved
on the first interview? What was your experience and what insight
would you provide that allowed you to achieve an approval here?

The possibility we are trying to prepare for is that if the visa is
denied due to this circumstance, then to file a waiver for
inadmissibility.

If you have filed a waiver due to a drug possession conviction, can
you provide your experience:

1) Was your waiver approved?
2) Did you use a lawyer to file the papers?
3) Was there anything spectacular in the documentation provided other
than the extreme hardship letter from the USC fiance and supporting
documents?
4) How long did it take from the denial of visa until you received
the waiver and visa?
5) Would you recommend this process or have any advise on what might
have made the process go smoother?

Thanks so much for any information.

No marijuana possession experience, but I do know definitely need to
file the I-601 waiver form. Research this and have it ready when the
interview time comes (you'll be told at interview that you need it, so
be prepared).

With the conviction being such a long time ago, you may be okay. My
husband had smudge on his UK record that involved one year's jail time
(not drug related), that happened approx. 20 years before we
petitioned for his K1 (youth and stupidity-related).

Just go through the correct channels and be patient. Good luck.
