Unfortunately, yes, it will take, in total, 14 to 18 months for you to obtain the CR-1 visa. The I-130 needs to be filed in the US, when approved it goes to the NVC for more exchange of documents, when approved there, it goes to the US Embassy in London and you need to your share of paperwork, get your ACRO report, have your medical and then the interview.

You can visit your wife in the US. Bring proof that you are returning to the UK and bring proof that your wife has filed the I-130 for you.
