Hello - apologies if this is not the right place, if so grateful if I could be pointed to where.
I am UK resident, my fiancee is Canadian and she has a 12 year old child. Our intention is for both of them to move to UK with me. My understanding is that my fiancee will apply for a fiancee visa which would give her 6 months in which period we would get married and then get 2 year visa and then permanent. Main question is about the child. I have read best way is for us to get married first and then apply for the child's visa as a dependent rather than trying to get the child in at the same time as the fiancee visa. Any experiences out there?
In relation to this, what timescales are involved in obtaining the fiancee visa and also the dependents visa?
Thanks for any help and if you know a better place to ask these things, please let me know!

Child should be included on the same application as the mother. Child will be eligible for permanent residence and British citizenship at the same time as the mother.
Does the child's other parent have any custody/access rights?
